A note on trim and on the 4xe
Rubicon commands a premium for a reason, and if you are never leaving pavement you are paying for capability you will not use. We sell 4xe Wranglers when they come through, but we do not install home charging equipment, so that side is yours to arrange.

What four-wheel drive is actually for around here
Jeep marketing sells snow and rock crawling. Prairie County sells something else. What four-wheel drive earns its keep for here is gravel county roads after a week of rain, getting into and out of hunting leases in the river bottoms, boat ramps that have not been graded recently, and the stretches of ground between the White and Cache rivers that turn to gumbo when the weather turns. That is a real use case and it is why Wranglers hold their value in this part of the state.
Which Jeep do you actually need?
Be honest with yourself about it. If your four-wheel drive sees mud twice a year, a Grand Cherokee or a Compass will cover it and be far nicer on the commute. If you are genuinely going where the road stops, that is Wrangler territory, and the trim matters.

What is a good year to buy a used Jeep?
On the Wrangler, the split is between the JK generation, 2007 to 2018, and the JL, which began in 2018 and brought a better interior and a lighter body. On the Grand Cherokee, the WK2 ran 2011 to 2021 and the WL began in 2021. Pick your generation on the features you want, then judge the individual vehicle. Both 2018 Wrangler generations were sold new at the same time, so read 2018 listings closely.
Which Jeep is best to buy used?
It depends entirely on use. A Wrangler is the right answer if you genuinely leave pavement — and if so, Rubicon over Sahara or Sport. A Grand Cherokee is the better daily vehicle for most people, and the Grand Cherokee L adds a third row from 2021. How does the Jeep Wrangler 4xe work?
The 4xe, available from the 2021 model year, is a plug-in hybrid. It combines a turbocharged four-cylinder engine with electric drive, can run on electric power alone for a limited distance before the petrol engine takes over, and recharges from a standard outlet or a dedicated home charger. It keeps the Wrangler's four-wheel-drive hardware. We sell them when they come through, but we do not install charging equipment — that is arranged separately.
